Indianapolis Colts (7-5) defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad was suspended six games Wednesday for violating the NFL’s performance enhancing drugs (PED) policy, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Muhammad, 28, has yet to appear in a game this season. With the suspension, he isn’t eligible to play in the Colts’ five remaining regular season games, as well as either a playoff game this season or next season’s opener. If the suspension carries over into 2024, Muhammad will still be eligible to play in the preseason and participate in practices until the start of the regular season. Muhammad is the second member of the Colts’ defensive line to be suspended for the same violation. Grover Stewart returns to the Colts this week following his six-game suspension.

Muhammad, a 2017 sixth-round pick out of Miami, spent the first season of his career with the New Orleans Saints (5-7) before the Colts claimed him off waivers the following season. He started all 17 games in 2021, notching a career-high 6.0 sacks, 48 tackles (32 solo), seven tackles for loss and 13 quarterback hits. He spent the 2022 season with the Chicago Bears (4-8), appearing in 16 games (nine starts). Indianapolis signed him back after Chicago released him in February.
