The Dallas Cowboys had very few negatives to take away from their 30-10 win over the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon but the injury to Zack Martin was one of them. The 2022 All-Pro right guard exited the game in the fourth quarter after suffering an ankle injury.

His injury came after the Cowboys also lost backup left guard Chuma Edoga to a shoulder injury at halftime.

Luckily for Dallas, Martin insisted post-game that his injury was not serious, even sharing that he would have continued playing if the score deemed it necessary.

“I feel good,” Martin provided as an update, via Jon Machota, on Monday morning. “Just got rolled up a little bit. Just being smart there at the end of the game. But I feel good.”

If the starting right guard pops up on the Cowboys’ injury report to start the week it wouldn’t be a surprise given his veteran status. Last week, he practiced in a limited fashion with a groin injury but was good to go by game time.

Martin is coming off of an offseason holdout that saw him miss most of training camp in Oxnard. He argued that he wasn’t properly compensated after his six-year deal for $84 million began to lose its prestige compared to more recent deals. Dallas wound up caving before the end of camp, increasing the All-Pro’s salary by $8 million over two years.

Edoga feeling good despite injury in Cowboys win over NYJ

Backup left guard Chuma Edoga suffered an injury to his elbow during the first half that kept him sidelined for the remainder of the game. After visiting with his staff, Jerry Jones shared that he didn’t believe the lineman’s injury was serious.

After the win, Edoga took to social media to boast about the win: “Feels good to be 2-0”

On 105.3 The Fan on Monday, Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones described Edoga’s injury as an elbow hyperextension. He also shared that X-ray and MRI results were “good.”

Losing Edoga, who started in place of 2022 first-rounder Tyler Smith due to his hamstring injury, meant the Cowboys had to move on to the third option at left guard.

Dallas called on undrafted rookie T.J. Bass to fill in at left guard after the half. He quickly paired up with Zack Martin to spring a block for Tony Pollard, leading to the running back’s biggest pickup of the day for 23 yards.

Despite injuries, the Cowboys gave up just one sack on Sunday against the Jets. They return to action on Sunday on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.
