The Dallas Cowboys have waived defensive tackle Trysten Hill, according to The Athletic’s Jon Machota. A second round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Hill has played all four of his NFL seasons to date in Dallas.

Across 25 career games and five starts, Hill has recorded 33 tackles (four for loss), 0.5 sacks and 11 QB pressures. He has played seven games in 2022 with six tackles (two for loss) and three QB pressures.

Hill played college football at UCF, where he was a part of back-to-back undefeated regular seasons in 2017 and 2018. He finished his college career with 71 tackles (20 for loss), six sacks and a forced fumble across three seasons with the Knights.

Report: Cowboys trade attempt for Brandin Cooks fell through

The Dallas Cowboys reportedly attempted to make a deal before the NFL trade deadline, but failed to secure a deal for wide receiver Brandin Cooks. Despite continuing talks to make the trade happen with the Houston Texans until the final minutes of the deadline, Dallas could not get a deal done in time and will continue their playoff push with the personnel they already have.

“Two sources directly involved tell me Cowboys and Texans discussed a potential trade involving wide receiver Brandin Cooks until the final minutes before the NFL trade deadline expired. Draft pick compensation and the $18M guaranteed salary for Cooks in 2023 could not be resolved in time,” explained ESPN‘s Ed Werder.

The Cowboys were one of the teams that were expected to entertain trade offers at the deadline after comments from owner Jerry Jones this weekend. Jones stated that he would be fielding offers to improve his team and enter “win now” mode, and specifically stated that he would be open to using future assets to make a move.

Despite the interest from Dallas, it appears that nothing worth pulling the trigger on a deal for came into focus for the Cowboys. Dallas fans were left somewhat surprised at the deadline as Dallas did not make any moves after all, but the report from Werder seems to indicate Jones and the Cowboys were actually pursuing a deal.
