Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott commented Monday on his recovery from shoulder surgery on his non-throwing arm during the offseason. The Cowboys’ star quarterback has had a rough series of seasons with injury concerns following his compound ankle fracture in Oct. 2020. While Prescott and the team have said that his newest surgery was purely to help mitigate pain and has not affected his play, concerns continue to arise for Cowboys fans who experienced a confusing Prescott return during the 2021 preaseason.

Dak Prescott on his offseason surgery

Dak Prescott said his left shoulder is doing better after the offseason surgery. He’s throwing a couple times per week. He expects to have a normal offseason,” stated The Athletic’s Jon Machota.

Prescott’s shoulder surgery was performed on his left, non-throwing shoulder as a result of lingering pain that he felt throughout last season. According to Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy, his left shoulder was bothering him especially as he tried to sleep. While they claimed that it didn’t affect his playing on the field, the lingering problem was something Prescott wanted to clear up before the 2022 preseason began.

“I think it’s important for players to speak on their body and their injuries,” McCarthy said of his surgery. “It’s just something he felt like he needed to get cleaned up.”

Prescott excited for Lamb being top receiver

While Prescott spoke on Monday, he was also asked what he thought about CeeDee Lamb becoming the No. 1 receiver for Dallas this season after the departure of Amari Cooper. Lamb’s answer was similar to Cowboys’ fans who have watched Lamb’s rise in the NFL — one of excitement and knowledge that his talents are star-level.

“It’s exciting, knowing this is only the beginning,” said Prescott about Lamb, via The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “He hasn’t even scratched the surface. For him to be the main guy, I know he’s ready for it.”

Lamb is entering his third year with the Cowboys since being drafted in the first round with the 17th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. In two seasons, Lamb has caught 153 passes for 2,037 yards and 11 touchdowns, with an average of 13.3 yards per catch.
