Joining the I Am Athlete podcast this week, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott‘s brother Tad endeavored to rank his favorite NFL quarterbacks. Not to show too much bias, Tad opted to rank his brother second, not first – one spot below three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes.

What really caught people’s attention, however, was where he ranked Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. The two-time Pro Bowler didn’t even make Tad Prescott’s top 10, and for a pretty funny reason.

“You said quarterbacks, not running backs,” Tad said on the podcast, earning a few laughs.

Hurts has run for more than 600 yards in each of the last three seasons, but his numbers through the air can’t be overlooked. He had a career-high 3,858 passing yards in 2023, with a 65.4% completion percentage and 23 touchdown passes. His interceptions, however, jumped from six in 2022 to 15 in 2023. Fifteen interceptions is how many Prescott had in the 2022 season when many were calling for his head in Dallas.

If rushing the ball upwards of nine times a game disqualifies a quarterback from Tad Prescott’s rankings then Lamar Jackson wouldn’t be at No. 3. Jackson had just nine fewer carries than Hurts in 2023, and more than 200 additional rushing yards.

Prescott angers fans: ‘If I could get (Dak) to leave Dallas, I would’

Dak’s brother has never been shy about giving his opinion. After Dallas’ loss to the Packers in the playoffs this year, he sounded off on social media about the situation with his words pointed toward the Cowboys’ fanbase.

“Cowboy fans why continue to DM me TRUST ME, if I could get [Dak Prescott] to leave Dallas I would. I too want him out of Dallas. The city and organization have been great to he and our family, but done with drama and the so called fans, but he loves this team, and wants to bring it rings,” he tweeted.

“Those who really follow or know me, knows I have never spoken badly about the [Dallas Cowboys] as an organization or team, I’ve never spoken badly about a player on the team or the city of Dallas. It’s the so called fans I have an issue with,” he added in another tweet.

Despite this season ending prematurely, Prescott was one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league this season. He passed for 4,516 yards (third in the NFL) and a league-high 36 touchdown passes on the year.

In the playoff loss to Green Bay, Prescott had a heavy work load against the Packers after trailing early. He completed 41 of 60 passes for 403 yards with three touchdown passes and two interceptions during the loss, which prompted fans to air their grievances toward the Cowboys QB1.
