Days following a playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys have shifted focus on the 2023 season. Before we know it, the team will be heading out west for training camp, with 90 players competing for 53-roster spots.

One is expected to be Tyler Coyne, who was a fullback for North Dakota a few years ago. Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston was the first to report the news, with Coyne seemingly making his return to football with a Reserve/Future contract.

Coyne was last listed on a football roster during the 2018 season, playing for the Fighting Hawks. He appeared in just three games and was not able to record any statistics. Injuries were part of his career at North Dakota as well, suffering a season-ending one in 2017.

According to his 2018 profile, Coyne was an Investments major and has been working for Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor in the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area according to his LinkedIn. He will possibly be stepping away from what many would consider the real world and getting back onto the football field with the Dallas Cowboys.

Coyne will have just the summer remaining in Minnesota before joining up with head coach Mike McCarthy.

Ezekiel Elliott ‘willing to accept’ pay cut to remain with Dallas Cowboys

Offseason changes are coming for the Dallas Cowboys and running back is going to be a major one. Alongside Tony Pollard being a free agent, something is going to have to be done with Ezekiel Elliott. The production has seriously dropped off from the once star, possibly forcing Jerry Jones to move on.

However, the two sides may be able to work something out and create a win-win scenario for everyone involved.

According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, Elliott is “willing to accept” a pay cut to remain with the Cowboys next season. He has been a fan — and the owner’s — favorite since being the No. 4 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. It’s been downhill over the past few years though, especially with a large contract.

“Ezekiel Elliott wants to stay with the Cowboys in 2023, and he is willing to accept a pay cut in order to achieve that, a person familiar with his thinking said today,” Gehlken said.

Elliott had the worst year of his career this season, having all-time low numbers at multiple important statistics. He was surpassed by Pollard in the Cowboys’ offense, a move many had wanted to see prior to 2022.
