Dallas Cowboys give wide receiver contract extension
Wide receiver has been a topic of discussion early in the offseason for the Dallas Cowboys. Reports state that Amari Cooper will not be with the team next season, while Michael Gallup could be nearing a long-term contract extension. Even tight end Dalton Schultz received the franchise tag on Tuesday morning, putting another piece of the offensive puzzle together.
Shortly after the Schultz news, the Cowboys announced a contract extension for wide receiver Noah Brown. It will be a one-year deal, keeping Brown in Dallas for at least the 2022 season. The financial terms of the contract have not yet been released.
Brown will be entering his sixth season with Dallas, being selected in the 7th round out of Ohio State in the 2017 NFL Draft. Only starting in five out of the 50 games he has played in, Brown has caught 39 passes for 425 yards. He has not found the endzone yet and will be hoping to get his first career touchdown this year.

In a stunning development that has surfaced over the last week, reputable NFL Insiders are now revealing the former Alabama Crimson Tide star could be headed out of Dallas before the start of the 2022 season.
Ian Rappaport suggested on NFL Now that Cooper is likely to be asked to take a pay cut or be released outright. Rapoport believed that bringing Cooper back at his current salary is not something the Cowboys are considering, which makes it sound like a divorce is imminent.
As for Gallup, he is expected to be back next season, potentially being close to a contact extension.
“Cowboys have been working on a new deal with free-agent-to-be WR Michael Gallup and a deal is considered “close,” per sources,” Schefter said via Twitter. “There’s hope the two sides can get it done and keep Gallup in Dallas.”
Gallup suffered two major injuries during the 2021 season, most recently tearing his ACL on Jan. 2 against the Arizona Cardinals. In the season opener against the Tampa Buccaneers, Gallup suffered a calf injury that held him out for the majority of the season. He only appeared in nine games this year for the Cowboys.
