Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup didn’t play on Monday night versus the New York Giants. Luckily, the team didn’t need him to pull out the win, but his absence once again sparked concern about his return timeline.

Head coach Mike McCarthy revealed after the game that Gallup didn’t feel ready to play yet, which the wideout confirmed himself on Wednesday.

“Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (knee) said he doesn’t have any limitations, but he just didn’t feel right last weekend,” Machota tweeted. “Gallup on potential return this Sunday: ‘I hope so. It’s been a while. Just have another good week, see what it feels like.'”

Gallup tore his ACL last year and has yet to make his 2022 debut for the Cowboys. Last week, the former Colorado State star made some big catches. Reflecting on the grabs, Gallup told reporters: “MG’s back.”

It sounds like he’ll actually be back for the Week 4 game on Sunday versus the Washington Commanders. The 2-1 squad hosts Washington for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff in AT&T Stadium.

Dak Prescott won’t practice for Cowboys on Wednesday

The Dallas Cowboys won’t have quarterback Dak Prescott participating in practice on Wednesday, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Rapoport shared the intel on Wednesday morning after the star QB had the stitches on his thumb removed.

“Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is not expected to practice today, having just gotten his stitches out of his surgically repaired thumb. This week appears too ambitious though he does have an outside shot for next week vs. the Rams,” Rapoport tweeted.

Monday night, Dallas escaped the New York Giants with a 23-16 victory behind backup QB Cooper Rush. Rush has started in Prescott’s place since his injury in Week 1. Most of the optimistic timelines after the injury pinned the Week 5 game versus Los Angeles as his first opportunity to return.

On Tuesday, ESPN reporter Lisa Salters shared an update straight from the Mississippi State alum.

“There’s still some swelling in his thumb but he said it feels great,” Salters reported. “He was going to talk to the doctor right after and hopefully, start gripping and throwing the football again.”
