The Dallas Cowboys‘ 2023 season is over, which means it’s time to shift the focus to the 2024 roster. After player meetings on Monday, the team announced the signing of eight players to Reserve/Future contracts. The contracts are to retain players already on the team for the offseason.

Dallas inked several rookies among the eight. Undrafted free agents tackle Earl Bostick, tight end Princeton Fant, defensive end Durrell Johnson and wide receiver Jalen Moreno-Cropper will all stick around after spending the year with the practice squad.

The Cowboys will also keep around first-year cornerback Josh Butler, wide receiver Racey McMath, midseason acquisition linebacker Buddy Johnson and fifth-year defensive back Sheldrick Redwine. McMath, a former LSU standout, only joined the team earlier this month.

The eight players signed to Reserve/Future deals are among the first to know what their situation will be this offseason. Dallas has a lengthy list of upcoming free agents to consider re-signing and multiple stars who are looking for contract extensions.

The list of the Cowboys’ top upcoming free agents includes Tony Pollard, Tyron Smith, Stephon Gilmore, Tyler Biadasz, Dorance Armstrong Jr., Jayron Kearse, Jourdan Lewis, Johnathan Hankins, Neville Gallimore, Dante Fowler Jr., Chuma Edoga, Noah Igbinoghene and Rico Dowdle.

Mike McCarthy schedules meeting with Cowboys coaches, players

Following Dallas’ latest frustrating playoff exit, the NFL Network’s Jane Slater reports that end-of-season business is being conducted as usual over at the Cowboys facilities.

There is speculation that head coach Mike McCarthy will be let go after Sunday’s abomination. However, if that’s the plan, fans will have to wait to hear official word until the team’s exit interviews are completed, per Slater.

“Locker room clean out and no Mike McCarthy today,” Slater tweeted Monday morning. “I was told presser will be after the completion of exit interviews…like the last three years and like Jason Garrett before him.”

Slater added that McCarthy is scheduled to meet with his staff and the team as the day progresses: “A source informed tells me Mike McCarthy will have a meeting with his coaches at 11. Players at 12. That’s standard.” And also, Central Standard Time.

She also commented that, “internally a lot of people I’ve spoken to are expressing frustration with another 12 win season and another postseason collapse.”

The loss marked another disappointing playoff exit for the Cowboys, who have not made it past the Divisional Round since 1995. Now, it’s the Packers moving on to face the No. 1-seed San Francisco 49ers at 8:15 p.m. ET on Saturday.
