Former NFL wide receiver Martavis Bryant is officially back in the league this week following his reinstatement from indefinite suspension. Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reported that The Dallas Cowboys signed Bryant to a deal on Tuesday after the former Steelers wideout completed a workout at the Star facilities in Frisco, Texas.

Bryant played for the Steelers from 2014-17 and the Raiders in 2018. In 2016, he was forced to miss the season because of suspension. In his three seasons on the field with Pittsburgh, the receiver accounted for 1,917 yards and 17 touchdowns on 126 catches. Bryant totaled 19 receptions for 266 yards in his half-season with the Raiders.

The former Clemson standout hasn’t played a game in the NFL since 2018 after he received an indefinite suspension from the league for violating substance abuse policies.

Last week, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell officially reinstated the wide receiver so he could take a stab at a second run in the league. Bryant began training for a comeback and joined the XFL last summer. He also played in the CFL in 2021 with the Toronto Argonauts. During his season with the Las Vegas Vipers of the XFL, he had 14 catches for 154 yards.

“He’s a guy that’s a big, strong, fast receiver that we’ll certainly take a look at,” Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said on 105.3 The Fan on Monday before the wideout’s workout.

In footage released by Bryant’s representatives, the former Raider looks as if he hasn’t missed a day of football since playing his last game in 2018.

The Steelers selected Bryant out of Clemson in the 2014 NFL Draft in the fourth round. He’ll turn 32 next month. At 6-foot-4, 211 pounds at the NFL combine, he clocked a 4.42 40-yard dash.

Cowboys post season-high passing performance

The Dallas Cowboys fell to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in a close 28-23 loss, despite posting a season-high 374 passing yards against their NFC East rivals. Quarterback Dak Prescott had three touchdowns while throwing no interceptions and taking five sacks.

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had a career day with 191 yards on 11 receptions. Meanwhile, second-year tight end Jake Ferguson also had the most productive game of his career yet with 91 yards on seven receptions and one touchdown catch.

Going into Week 10, the Cowboys are preparing to face another NFC East opponent – the New York Giants. They face the Giants, then the Panthers, before hosting the Washington Commanders at AT&T Stadium on Thanksgiving Day.
