After multiple months of interest in signing him, the Dallas Cowboys have finally made the call to sign linebacker Anthony Barr. Barr played eight seasons with Minnesota after being drafted by them out of UCLA with the ninth-overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Cowboys sign veteran Anthony Barr

“Cowboys are signing former Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr,” detailed NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

The Cowboys had been interested in the veteran linebacker for multiple months according to reports, but as recently as last week it appeared that Dallas was not interested in signing him yet.

However, executive vice president Stephen Jones noted at the beginning of training camp that the four-time Pro Bowl linebacker was still a player that the team had interest in bringing in. With Dallas having already begun their training camp in full, some believe that the decision was made after getting a first look at how their linebackers looked in camp.

Barr made four straight Pro Bowls from 2015-2018, and accumulated 17.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles and five interceptions over his career so far. The terms of his signing were not publicly available at the time of the announcement, however his contract was reported to be a one-year deal with Dallas.
