Trevon Diggs returned to team drills on Tuesday with a bang following a toe injury that had him limited to start training camp. A clip of the Dallas Cowboys cornerback talking trash to quarterback Dak Prescott went viral after Diggs told his captain to “shut his b****h a** up.”

Although the interaction spread around the internet, Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporter Clarence Hill noted on social media that it’s nothing new between the two fierce competitors.

Perhaps the cornerback got frustrated as Prescott and the offense had a stellar day against the defense. During 7-on-7 drills, the Cowboys offense scored three consecutive touchdowns after going five-for-five on two-point conversion attempts.

Diggs’ trash talk may have had a tone of disrespect but there’s no question Prescott has the love and admiration of his teammates. This summer, former Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore called the QB the best leader he’s ever been around, period.

“I think the best leader I’ve ever been around, easily,” Moore said. “And in all honesty, player or coach or anything. I think his ability to connect with a team in all spectrums is rare and I’ve never seen it in any other way. His work ethic, his command, I think he’s incredible.”

Despite some wins on Tuesday, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Prescott and Mike McCarthy’s offense. Edge rusher Micah Parsons has been making things difficult for them to even get plays off.

“He’s very impactful,” McCarthy said of Parsons after the first day of pads. “Talking with him afterwards, he said ‘I’ll be better tomorrow.’ And the offensive side of me said, ‘I hope not.'”

Prescott dodges injury following Parsons rush

Micah Parsons violated the golden rule of training camp practice on Tuesday when he briefly upended Dak Prescott. Parsons inadvertently clipped Prescott low on a play.

Fortunately for the Dallas faithful, what could’ve been a scary moment was quickly averted as Prescott apparently popped right back up. Even though it looked like Parsons tried to bail out of the hit, he’ll surely get a talking to about giving the Cowboys signal caller a wide berth.

Were it a hit in a game, it’d be 15 yards for the low hit on a quarterback.

Prescott has sustained a number of lower body injuries in his career, most notably a horrific ankle injury in Week 5 of the 2020 season. He also played through a right calf strain in 2021 that he suffered during Week 6.

With star quarterbacks like Joe Burrow already suffering training camp injuries, the Cowboys certainly want to avoid adding to the list. In a potential make-or-break season for head coach Mike McCarthy, the Cowboys can’t afford to spend time without Prescott at the helm of the offense.
