A free-agent wide receiver is heading to Dallas but it’s not who you would expect. Long-time Colts star T.Y. Hilton will finish out the 2022 season with the Cowboys, with the organization officially announcing the signing on Monday.

It’s a much-needed addition on offense for head coach Mike McCarthy and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

“Great addition,” McCarthy said. “We’ll get him out there Wednesday and get him acclimated. He had a workout. Everything passed with flying colors. The timing is right. He’s ready to go.”

Dallas has been connected with Odell Beckham Jr. for quite some time now, with his name being mentioned on nearly a daily basis. A certain allure is involved with Beckham wearing a Cowboys uniform but up to this point, things have not worked out.

Hilton gives quarterback Dak Prescott a veteran target through the final four games of the regular season and what Dallas hopes to be a long run in the playoffs.

Moore commented on the addition of Hilton as well, saying there is still a lot left in the tank for the wide receiver.

“Tremendous depth to sign a guy like T.Y. in December,” Moore said. “He can definitely still run.”

Hilton last played for Indianapolis but injuries have plagued him over the past few years. He played in 10 games last season, going for 331 yards and three touchdowns on 23 receptions. It’s a nice addition for Dallas down the stretch of the season, hoping to take an already impressive offense to a new level.

Cowboys still going after Odell Beckham Jr. after Hilton signing

T.Y. Hilton will be a Dallas Cowboy, with the veteran signing on Monday afternoon. This is not the wide receiver many expected to wind up with America’s Team, as much of the discussion has been over Odell Beckham Jr. A lot more star power is involved with Beckham but Dallas still needed help at receiver in the final four games of the season.

Injury concerns have been the problem with Beckham and Dallas since visiting last week. Beckham tore his ACL during the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams and is still in the midst of his rehab process. However, talks have not slowed down between to two after Hilton’s acquisition.

“At the moment I’m told, Cowboys feel unsure of how long the tail-end of Odell Beckham Jr’s current rehab will specifically take, thus the T.Y. Hilton move today,” Anderson said. “Was also just told-as of this tweet-Jerry Jones & Odell Beckham’s camp are ‘still talking.’ Talks are ‘ongoing.’”
