Dalvin Cook‘s time with the Minnesota Vikings is officially coming to an end after months of speculation.

The former Florida State Seminoles star has only known one NFL franchise since coming into the league, but that’s all about to change. On Thursday, the Vikings and their four-time Pro Bowl running back decided to part ways.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero revealed the news on Twitter, and Cook will now look to begin the next chapter in his career.

“The #Vikings and four-time Pro Bowl RB Dalvin Cook are parting ways, per source,” tweeted Pelissero. “One of the NFL’s most dynamic playmakers, Cook is coming off a fourth straight 1,000-yard season and has 52 career TDs. Now he’ll be a free agent at age 27 and will have multiple suitors.”

Moreover, ESPN’s Adam Schefter added that the Vikings will try one last time on Thursday to trade Cook to one of his many suitors, before they likely release him for nothing but cap space.

“Vikings are expected to try to trade four-time Pro-Bowl RB Dalvin Cook one more time today and if they are unable to, they would plan to process his official release Friday, per source,” tweeted Schefter.

A myriad of teams from the Miami Dolphins to the New York Jets and the Dallas Cowboys are expected to be in on Dalvin Cook if he does his the free agent market. It remains to be seen who wins out for his services, but a star running back is about to hit the shelves. Whoever gets him will be more than lucky.

More on Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings

Continuing, a former Florida State standout, the Vikings selected Dalvin Cook in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Since then, he’s been a star in Minnesota out of the backfield.

In six seasons with the franchise, Cook has earned four Pro Bowl appearances. He’s rushed for 5,993 yards with 47 touchdowns on the ground, adding 1,794 receiving yards and five scores on 221 catches. Cook still rushed for over 1,000 last season and reached the end zone 10 total times for Minnesota. It marked the fourth-straight year in which he hit the rushing milestone.

So, with Cook and the Vikings officially parting ways, where could the running back head next? ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler provided some input last week on a potential landing spot.

“He’s from Miami, trains down there,” Fowler said. “Maybe he’d be linked to the Dolphins but from what I’m told he loves Minnesota, would also be welcome to a fresh start if it comes to that.”

Time will tell where Dalvin Cook ends up, but it’ll certainly be something to watch over the coming days.
