Dalvin Cook has a new home. On Thursday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Cook will sign with the Baltimore Ravens.

“Four-time Pro Bowl RB Dalvin Cook will sign for the playoffs with the Baltimore Ravens,” Schefter wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “The Jets paid Cook $6.8 million this season and now he will get a chance to pursue a Super Bowl appearance with the Ravens.”

On Tuesday, the New York Jets released Cook with only one game remaining in the regular season. While with the organization, Cook only carried the ball 67 times for 214 yards, a 3.2-yard average. He did not score a touchdown with the team.

Cook exceeded 10 carries in just one game — the seasonopening win over the Buffalo Bills (10-6). He had 33 yards on 13 carries in that outing. In his last appearance, the 22-20 defeat to the Miami Dolphins (11-5) on Dec. 17, Cook had one carry for four yards and one reception for six yards.

“Just good business for everyone,” Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday. “Dalvin’s been an incredible teammate since he’s walked in here. Obviously, it hasn’t gone the way any of us wanted. He’s been an unbelievable teammate, an unbelievable mentor to the young guys. I know he’s hurting, not physically but just wanting to be out there to help the team.

“He’s put aside all his frustrations and shown up with a smile on his face, energy in practice… And he’s been an unbelievable teammate. Whatever opportunity he gets I know he’s going to be great.”

Cook and the Jets agreed in August to a one-year contract worth up to $8.6 million. It was the best payday of any free agent running back last offseason. A source revealed to Schefter that Cook is now restructuring his deal to forfeit remaining guarantees. Prior to inking his deal with the Jets, he had interest from several teams including the Dolphins and Patriots.

Cook was released by the Minnesota Vikings in June after six seasons with the team. He made the Pro Bowl each of the past four seasons with the franchise.

During that span, Cook rushed for over 1,000 each season. He has also added at least 224 receiving yards each season. His best year came in 2020 when he carried the ball 312 times for 1,557 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.

Baltimore can only hope Cook can replicate this success on the NFL’s biggest stage. The Ravens are 13-3 this season and the No. 1 team in the AFC. The Ravens will conclude their regular season on Saturday when they face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 4:30 p.m. ET.
