The UFC has become immensely popular over the last two decades as martial arts have become more en vogue for everyday people. And two of those everyday folks — OK, two immensely wealthy and famous folks — are reportedly interested in hopping in the cage with each other: Mark Zuckerberg vs. Elon Musk.

The two exchanged a series of messages across multiple social media platforms indicating they’d be down for a fight.

It started late Tuesday, when Musk, the owner of Twitter, replied to two users on Twitter that he’s “up for a cage match if he is,” referring to Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder and CEO. Zuckerberg then took a screenshot of that and added a “send me location” graphic, posting it to his Instagram account on Wednesday.

TMZ then reportedly confirmed Zuckerberg’s Instagram post was not a joke, with Meta spokesperson Iska Saric telling The Verge, “The story speaks for itself.”

Dana White, the president of UFC, said a fight pitting Mark Zuckerberg vs. Elon Musk would be ‘the biggest fight ever.’

“Both guys are absolutely serious about this,” White said in a TMZ exclusive. “This would be the biggest fight ever, in the history of the world. Bigger than anything that’s ever been done. It would break all pay-per-view records. These guys would raise hundreds of millions of dollars for charity.”

Zuckerberg has been doing Brazilian jiu-jitsu for a while now, even winning gold and silver medals in a jiu-jitsu tournament in Northern California earlier this year.

He’s reportedly a very hard trainer and has been advancing his skill level.

Musk isn’t quite as up on that currently, though he reportedly told White he was in plenty of fights growing up in South Africa. Enough to potentially make a real fight happen?

That remains to be seen.

But even Las Vegas is already starting to salivate at the prospect of a Mark Zuckerberg vs. Elon Musk fight. Bookies.com has developed projected odds on which one would win in a standard MMA/UFC rules fight.

Zuckerberg is the favorite at -550, while Musk was listed at +350.

The appeal would be immense, too. White explained that a fight between the two tech titans would have appeal far beyond just the fighting community.

He even estimated that a Mark Zuckerberg vs. Elon Musk fight would generate triple the revenue of the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight, a fight that reportedly generated in excess of $600 million back in 2017.

“There’s no limit on what this thing can make,” White said.

So when might the fight happen, if it is indeed a serious proposition? That will have to be sorted out in the coming weeks and months. Presumably both will need some time to train.

White wasn’t sure when things might get set in motion.

“I probably spent an hour and a half on the phone with both of them last night,” the UFC president said. “I don’t know. These are early stages. We’ll see how it plays out.”
