Following the news that Sherry Pollex died from ovarian cancer, Danica Patrick took time to criticize Martin Truex Jr. for his statement. Truex Jr. and Pollex were partners for two decades. They split at the beginning of 2023. The NASCAR driver released a statement commending Pollex’s “passion” and determination.

Danica Patrick also had her own words to say about Sherry Pollex. However, on her Instagram Story, she hit back at Truex Jr. hard. Reposting the image of his statement, Patrick added her own commentary on how it made her feel.

“I avoid negativity on social at almost all costs,” Patrick wrote. “Almost…. But this is the most insensitive disconnected statement from a guy that I have never liked. And obviously for good reason. I don’t care what happened between them but this is as cold as it gets. A PR rep wrote this guaranteed. You’re free from this now Sherry.”

Here is a screenshot of the Instagram Story, which is still up on her page as of the time of this writing, from the Brake Hard Blog.

In the wake of Pollex’s passing, drivers have put out their own messages of support for her family and loved ones.

Danica Patrick has issue with Truex Jr.’s statement

While it sounds like a personal issue that we will likely not know the details about, this is a strange move from Danica Patrick. Martin Truex Jr. has always seemed like a person who keeps to himself and doesn’t show too much emotion in the media.

When it was announced at the beginning of 2023 that Truex Jr. and Pollex were splitting, he made it clear. His simple and short statement on the matter would be the only thing said about it and that was that.

Here is Truex’s full statement that Danica Patrick took issue with.

“From the very minute of her diagnosis, Sherry was determined to not only fight ovarian cancer with everything she had, but also make a difference in the lives of others battling this terrible disease.

“Sherry’s passion for making a difference in the lives of others was inspiring to everyone. Through her tireless charity work for so many years, her legacy will live well beyond our lifetimes and continue to help countless families who are battling ovarian and childhood cancer. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to her entire family, who have shown incredible strength and resilience throughout her battle.”

Danica Patrick has been mainly covering F1 this year. While she makes appearances at a few NASCAR events a year, it’s been a while.
