Davante Adams played eight years for the Packers. On Monday night, he met his old teammates, wearing a different uniform, for the first time since Green Bay traded him away.

Judging from the reaction after the game, there was no ill will between the Packers and their one-time star wideout. You can see the reaction in this video, posted by the NFL, that shows Davante Adams hug a number of former teammates. This was after the Raiders won, 17-13, at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas.

Bad right shoulder limited what Davante Adams could do

Adams probably wanted a bigger numbers game the first time back against the Packers. But injuries got in the way. He came into the game as “questionable” with a shoulder issue. He didn’t practice last Thursday and Friday, but was able to do some drills Saturday. After the game, he needed help taking off his shoulder pads. He said the injury wasn’t going to prevent him from playing against the Packers.

“It was good,” Davante Adams told reporters after the game.”I wish I could have been able to send them off with a few more plays made, but at the end of the day, we beat them. Now nobody can make up this crazy narrative and talk about how I shouldn’t have left and all of this stuff that was getting ready to come if we didn’t win. So, glad to get that win over them (Monday). We just want to beat everybody.”

Raiders used Adams as a decoy, but Packers had to pay attention

The Monday Night Football crew described Adams as a “decoy.” The Packers probably were well aware of his injury designation. But if he was out on the field, a cornerback needed to pay attention.

Adams caught three passes on what proved to be the Raiders game-winning drive. It ended with a Josh Jacobs rushing TD to kick off the fourth quarter. Before that key series, Adams caught only one one pass. He ended the evening with four catches for 45 yards. He caught every pass quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo tossed his way. Jakobi Meyers ended up as the top Raiders receiver with seven catches for 75 yards.

“Well, I mean, that’s the way the game goes sometimes,” Davante Adams said. “I’m a little banged up, dealing with a shoulder that was kind of, had me in a little pain out there. It’s just how it goes. At the end of the day, it’s about winning. We got the dub (Monday). I could have had 22 yards, zero yards, whatever it is. It’s just good to get the dub.”
