Running back Brian Robinson suffered a major setback before his rookie season even began, being shot in the lower half of his body. He has thankfully made a full recovery and has been able to return to football action with the Washington Commanders. More information on the incident was released on Wednesday, with the DC Police announcing the arrest of a juvenile.

The name of the shooter was not identified but per the release, the male being arrested is a 17-year-old juvenile. At the time, he was 16 years old and is being charged with Assualt with the Intent to Rob while Armed. Police described exactly how the incident went down before Robinson was transported to the hospital.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault With Intent to Rob while Armed (Gun) offense that occurred on Sunday, August 28, 2022, in the 1000 block of H Street, Northeast,” the release said.

“At approximately 5:28 pm, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects brandished handguns and attempted to rob the victim. During the robbery attempt, one of the suspects fired a handgun, striking the victim. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle without obtaining any property. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 17-year-old juvenile male ( who was 16 at the time of the offense), of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Rob while Armed (Gun).

At the end of the release, they did add “the case remains under investigation.” A picture of an additional suspect was added, with police asking to contact them with more information.

More on Brian Robinson, return to football

Robinson, who was a third-round pick coming out of Alabama, officially made his return to football on the big stage. Washington played on Thursday Night Football against the Chicago Bears where the running back had 17 carries for 60 yards and a touchdown.

Just weeks after being shot by the now-arrested juvenile, Robinson was able to score his first career NFL touchdown. Had he not gone through that injury, it would have been special for the Tuscaloosa native who patiently waited his turn with the Crimson Tide.

Coming back so quickly only made the moment that much better.
