Deebo Samuel propelled into the bevy of high-profile storylines with the NFL Draft closing in and there’s no surprise the Dallas Cowboys — an organization that could use a true No. 1 WR with the departure of Amari Cooper and CeDee Lamb continuing to develop — aren’t out of the mix, although just about every organization is likely taking a glance to see if it could pull off a deal to land the former South Carolina star.

On Wednesday, the news broke that one of the top playmakers from the 2021 campaign had officially requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers.

Michael Gehlken covers the Cowboys for the Dallas Morning News and tweeted an interesting nugget about the versatile WR landing on the emerging NFC East Squad on Friday afternoon.

Without moving significant draft capital and at least one, if not more, big-name players making a dent in the salary cap, it’s difficult to see a deal getting done to bring the Gamecocks legend to Dallas, but if there’s one thing anyone knows about the Jones brass, they will find a way to make it happen if he’s a prime target.

Deebo Samuel stuns NFL world, requests trade out of San Francisco

Deebo Samuel is seeking a trade out of San Francisco, according to a report that surfaced on Wednesday.

According to NFL Insider Jeff Darlington, the former South Carolina star asked the 49ers to trade him.

Here’s the full tweet from Darlington that was published on Wednesday.

“Breaking News: I just spoke to wide receiver Deebo Samuel — and he told me that he has asked the 49ers to trade him. He did not want to discuss specific reasons behind his request, but he has indeed let the 49ers know his desire to leave the organization. More to come.”

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport chimed in saying the San Francisco 49ers brass has been aware of Deebo’s feelings for a while and that the trade request came roughly a week ago.

Last season, Samuel hauled in 77 receptions for 1,409 yards and six touchdowns while adding another 550 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.
