A pair of reports on Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey indicate that he is likely to return from his meniscus injury quicker than originally anticipated.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke news of an improved timeline on Ramsey Sunday morning ahead of the Dolphins’ game vs. Carolina. Here was that report:

“Dolphins’ CB Jalen Ramsey, who underwent knee surgery in July, is ahead of schedule in his comeback and is pushing to play sometime next month, per league sources.”

Schefter added that one on source told him that Ramsey is “tracking well and wants to come back sooner rather than later.”

Lastly, he said the hope is Ramsey can return in the middle of next month.

“The team still doesn’t know when it will be, but the Dolphins have a bye Nov. 12 and if Ramsey were to return Nov. 19 vs. Las Vegas, he would be back to play the final eight games of the season.”

Even if he does sit out a few more weeks, Tom Pelissero added in his own report that Jalen Ramsey could begin to participate in practice this week, but would be limited to start.

“Six-time Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey is far ahead of schedule in his recovery from knee surgery and could return to practice with the Dolphins as soon as this week, per sources,” Pelissero tweeted. “They’ll ramp him up gradually. But Ramsey is on track for an early return.”

Initial timeline for Ramsey injury

Ramsey initially suffered a knee injury at practice over the summer and had to have surgery in July on his meniscus. Initially, the star cornerback was expected be sidelined into December if it was repaired, but could have missed much longer if it was removed.

Back in late July, Ian Rapoport reported that a repair was completed to help save Ramsey’s career as we know it.

“Dolphins star Jalen Ramsey did, in fact, undergo a full meniscus repair this morning, sources say, knocking him out until December. While it takes him off the field for the first half of 2023, it is the best long-term health option for Ramsey. It likely lengthens his career.”

Obviously, with the latest update on his excellent progress, Ramsey is looking good to beat that initial timetable and get back to the field sooner rather than later for a Miami team that’s looked like a Super Bowl contender so far this season.
