Duke guard Jared McCain has made his decision on the 2024 NBA draft. After one season with the Blue Devils, McCain has decided to turn pro, he announced Friday morning on Twitter.

“I’ve always been a dream chaser. I’ve always been one to reach my goals. And the next one is the NBA,” Jared McCain said in a video. “With that being said, I will be entering my name into the 2024 NBA draft.”

Jared McCain averaged 14.3 points per game this past season, helping the Blue Devils to the Elite 8. He was second on the team in scoring and third in rebounding at 5 per game. McCain is also an excellent shooter, knocking down 41.4 percent of his 3-point attempts and 88.5 percent of his free throws.

During four NCAA Tournament games he averaged 21 points, reaching the 30-point mark twice.

Even though Jared McCain declared for the NBA draft, it’s clear that he enjoyed his time at Duke.

During the announcement video, McCain had plenty of good things to say about his time as a Blue Devil.

“Today I’m feeling such gratitude and appreciation for my life, for everything that’s been brought to me this year. I want to thank the coaching staff, my family, my teammates for everything they’ve done for me this year.

Words cannot describe the gratitude I have for coach [Jon] Scheyer. He believed in me when I felt like he could’ve given up on me and not given me a chance as a freshman. So I’m forever grateful for the opportunity he gave me.

I want to thank the Cameron Crazies, just the fans and supporters, for always just believing in me and trusting what I can do on the court. It’s been the best year of my life to play in Cameron Indoor, to play for Duke, to put on that jersey. There’s no other feeling like it.

I just want to thank God for guiding me through this journey of life. There’s ups and downs through this season, but believing in myself and trusting my work has gotten me through the whole time. I couldn’t have done this without my family. My support system means everything to me.

I want to thank my teammates for believing in me and being there for me during rough times. I feel like we became brothers over this year, especially the freshmen four. … I’m just so grateful for them to be my friends.”
