There is more unfortunate news for the Philadelphia Eagles, who are trailing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road in their Monday night NFC Wildcard matchup. With Philadelphia trailing late in the fourth quarter 25-9, they lost arguably their best secondary player, cornerback Darius Slay.

The injury appears to be a significant one, as Slay had to be carted off the field. The injury took place when he attempted to make a tackle on Tampa Bay running back Rachaad White. Slay had White wrapped around his lower legs when some of his Eagles teammates came in and helped him make the tackle. Unfortunately, Slay’s body was in an awkward position, resulting in him bending backward and suffering what appears to be a lower back injury.

There is no word on the severity of the injury. This story will be updated as more news is revealed on Slay’s status.
