Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Landon Dickerson was a highly valuable pick for the organization in the 2021 NFL Draft, but not all of his teammates made him feel that way when he started to make an impact as a rookie.

Filling in for Brandon Brooks at guard when the All-Pro suffered a pec injury, Dickerson got a rude awakening from center Jason Kelce.

The former Alabama standout recounted the vivid memory on the New Heights show with Kelce and his brother, Travis Kelce.

“He was a little bit nuts,’ Dickerson said. “The thing I remember most, I believe it was a Raiders game, I remember I was trying to get this block down, hadn’t practiced a whole lot with Jason, and I just remember I did something very wrong. He did not like it and he just mother f****d me for a good, like, minute straight.

“And told me just how f*****g terrible I was, how I f****d everything up, and if I did it again, he didn’t want to play with me.”

“I remember being a lot more encouraging,” Kelce responded.

That early experience with Kelce taught Dickerson a rule of thumb that he still uses to this day.

“I remember at that point being like, ‘alright, let’s not f**k up anything else anymore,'” Dickerson said. “And that was my ultimate goal. As long as he’s not mad, I’m having a good day.”

Dickerson headed into Year 3 with Philadelphia

Coming out of college, his original position was center, which he played well for the Alabama Crimson Tide and Nick Saban. He was arguably one of the best offensive linemen in the country at the time and racked up the awards to prove it.

Dickerson was the co-winner of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy with teammate Alex Leatherwood. He also won the Rimington Trophy, awarded to the nation’s best center.

Dickerson only slipped in the draft after suffering an ACL injury in the SEC championship game against the Florida Gators.

Since joining the Eagles and angering Jason Kelce, Dickerson has cemented his role alongside him at left guard. The duo made up just one part of the Philadelphia offensive line that paved the way for their trip to the Super Bowl this year.

Maturing off the field as much as on, Dickerson tied the knot to his fiancee Brooke at the end of March. The duo got engaged after four years of dating. Brooke also played sports at Alabama. She was on the volleyball team after transferring from Florida State where she played beach volleyball.
