With Amari Cooper reportedly expected to be released by the Dallas Cowboys at any time now, where could the wide receiver potentially end up for the 2022 season? That’s the question many people are asking – and one NFL insider has made his prediction.

ESPN’s Louis Riddick joined SportsCenter on Sunday and named a noteworthy team as the landing spot that would make the most sense for Cooper as he moves forward in his career.

“I think this has ‘New England Patriots’ written all over it,” Riddick said. “They really need someone who has No. 1 wide receiver capability in the form of Amari Cooper, and you saw just in the video clips that you’ve been running – just look at this double move on this post here … they don’t have anyone that can do these kind of things.

“The issue with Amari is consistency. The issue with Amari is getting him to do this over 17 games. That’s really why two teams now have said, ‘Look, you’re good, but you’re not worth the money that we paid you that was really projected on you being a 90, 100-catch guy per year.’ He really just hasn’t been able to dial-in and tap into his athletic ability and his football playing ability at that level.”

If Cooper – who recorded 68 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns with the Cowboys last season – does in fact land with the New England Patriots, how will Bill Belichick and his staff be able to get Cooper back on track?

“New England usually pulls it out of people in a way that many other people aren’t able to,” Riddick said. “And look, for Mac Jones, this will be the perfect kind of weapon that he needs on the outside to go along with a very strong running game and one of the best receiving tight ends in the NFL in Hunter Henry.”

Cooper – a former On3 Consensus four-star recruit who was a standout at Alabama – has played with the Oakland Raiders (2015-2018) and Dallas Cowboys (2018-2021) throughout his NFL career, totaling 7,076 yards and 46 touchdowns in 108 games played.
