North Charleston police stated that officers responded to the accident around 10:40 p.m. on Saturday. The officers reported that a male pedestrian was taken to a hospital and would later die from injuries sustained during the crash. Investigators say they have located the driver involved in the crash.

Carlos Dunlap played three seasons with Florida under head coach Ubran Meyer and was drafted in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. In 2009, Dunlap was part of the Gators team that won the BCS national title.

After ten seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, Dunlap was traded to Seattle in the middle of the 2020 season. In just half a year, Dunlap has 13 sacks already as a member of the Seahawks. Over the course of his career, he has recorded 96 sacks and appeared in two Pro Bowl games.
