After making a triumphant return from retirement last season to play for the Buccaneers then the Buffalo Bills, wide receiver Cole Beasley is staying in New York. The former Dallas Cowboys wideout signed with the New York Giants on Friday, according to Mike Garafolo. The Giants confirmed the news of his signing on Friday as well.

Details of his contract are still under wraps but it appears the 34-year-old will have a place to play for his 12th season.

“Let’s get to work big dog. Excited for the opportunity,” Beasley responded to his new teammate Isaiah Hodgins on Twitter on Friday.

Beasley played in six games total last season. He first played two with the Bucs before rejoining the Bills for two regular season games and two postseason games. During their playoff run, he had five catches for 68 yards and a touchdown.

The former undrafted wideout from SMU joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2012. He wound up playing seven seasons with the star on his helmet before signing a deal with Buffalo for four years, $29 million. His most productive season in the NFL came in 2020 when he had 967 yards on 82 catches with four touchdowns.

Over 11 seasons in the NFL, Beasley has 5,744 career receiving yards, 34 touchdowns and 556 catches in regular season games. He also has 45 catches, 525 yards, and one post-season touchdown grab.

Beasley claps back at claims he was ‘distraction’ to Bills

One fan on Twitter recently called Beasley out for being a distraction during the Bills’ 2021 season when he refused to get vaccinated for COVID-19. He responded openly to the fan, claiming his “distraction” was minor and that his teammates loved him.

“The ‘distraction’ shit in the NFL is way over blown,” Beasley tweeted. “The biggest distraction will always be the business…y’all can use me as an excuse for why we didn’t win all you want to. But, that’s for one year only…my teammates loved me. We were never distracted from the task at hand.”

At 34 years old, Beasley will start the 2023 season as one of the oldest active wide receivers. He’ll provide yet another target for quarterback Daniel Jones in New York. The move to join the Giants reunites Beasley with former Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

If the new Giants receiver makes the 53-man roster, he’ll face his former Dallas Cowboys twice during the 2023 season. The NFC East rivals play each other to start the season on Sept. 10 on Sunday Night Football, then again in Dallas on Sunday afternoon on Nov. 12.
