After spending the last three seasons of his career with the Detroit Pistons, veteran guard Cory Joseph will call a new NBA franchise home for the sixth time in his professional career.

According to ESPN basketball insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and agent Brandon Cavanaugh have reported that Joseph has agreed to a one-year deal with the Golden State Warriors.

Joseph will be entering the 13th season of his NBA career, predominantly serving as a role player coming off of the bench. But he did start in a career-high 39 games for the Pistons in the 2021-2022 season, a year where he also boasted career highs in three-point shooting and free throw shooting percentage.

Joseph has been a member of the Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors, and the San Antonio Spurts throughout his career, notably appearing in 17 playoff games during the Spurs 2014 NBA title run.

In his career, Joseph has averaged 7.1 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game on 44.2% shooting from the field, averaging a career-high 12 points per game for the Pistons after being traded to Detroit from the Kings in the midst of the 2020-2021 season.

Golden State recently parted ways with guard Donte DiVincenzo this offseason, who provided the team with valuable minutes off of the bench last season. And with team veterans Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson already on the team and the addition of 12-time NBA All-Star guard Chris Paul this offseason, Joseph could likely play a similar role for Golden State this upcoming season.

More on Cory Joseph

Cory Joseph was a highly touted high school basketball prospect out of the prestigious Findlay Prep school in Henderson, Nevada. According to On3’s Industry Ranking, he was a five-star recruit in the 2010 class, ranked the No. 10 player and the No. 4 point guard in the country.

The McDonalds All-American chose Texas as his school of choice, attending school for one season in Austin before declaring for the 2011 NBA Draft. In his lone season with the Longhorns, Joseph 10.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game, helping lead the team to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

Joseph was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team and was selected with the No. 29 overall pick in the NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs.

During the first two seasons of his career, he was assigned to the Austin Toros of the NBA D-League on four different occasions, earning All-NBA D-League Second Team and Defensive Second Team honors in 2013. But in his following two seasons with the Spurs, he evolved into a trusted playoff contributor for the team off of the bench, a role he’s continued to play and thrive in throughout his NBA career.
