Former Ohio State standout and NFL linebacker Darron Lee was issued an arrest warrant on Monday, according to reports. He failed to appear in court on domestic violence charges.

Lee was arrested in April and charged with domestic violence for two separate incidents, per the Columbus Dispatch. He faces two counts of domestic violence and two counts of misdemeanor assault.

Police were called by a female relative after the alleged assault at a home in Dublin, Ohio. Lee allegedly punched the woman multiple times in the head. One of the incidents occurred in April while the other happened in October.

The trial was initially scheduled for June 5 but a continuation was ordered. Judge James Green issued an arrest warrant for Lee when he failed to appear at the hearing on Monday.

Lee, 28, spent a majority of his brief NFL career with the New York Jets (2016-18). He was a first-round pick out of Ohio State, going No. 20 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The linebacker spent three seasons with the Jets, followed by one year with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019. He last played with the Buffalo Bills in 2020.

In his five seasons in the league, Lee was credited with 273 tackles and four sacks. He was a member of the Chiefs team that claimed a ring in Super Bowl LIV.

Ugly details regarding Darron Lee’s arrest surfaced in April

In April, details first emerged regarding Lee’s alleged assault on his mother and the mother of his child. TMZ Sports reported on the news.

Lindsey McGlone, the mother of Lee’s 2-year-old son, claims that she heard yelling between Darron and his mother, Candice Lee, at the top of the stairs. When she ran towards the disturbance, McGlone said Candice was lying on her back and Darron stood over top of her with a raised fist.

McGlone claims she didn’t feel safe around Darron at the time and called Candice over to help with the situation. When she told her son to leave, he became violent.

Per TMZ Sports, “Candice said Darron then threw her to the ground and punched her in the face and the back of her head repeatedly. She claimed Darron also pulled her hair. She said it was all broken up when McGlone ran upstairs and pulled Darron off of her.”
