The Kansas City Chiefs took home their second straight Super Bowl victory last Sunday after defeating the San Fransisco 49ers in a 25-22 overtime thriller in Las Vegas. Getting their third consecutive playoff win as an underdog after the 49ers were 1.5-point favorites in the matchup.

Many believed that the Chiefs should have been favored in the Super Bowl largely due to their championship pedigree and the track record of now three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes. Including former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Byrant took to Twitter on Sunday and shared footage of himself betting live on Kansas City during the Super Bowl. With the former Dallas Cowboys wideout notably placing a sizable bet on the Chiefs after the 49ers went up 10-0 in the second quarter following a Christian McCaffrey 21-yard touchdown on a trick play touchdown pass from Jauan Jennings.

“Throwback video of me betting on the chiefs!!! I really do this Call me if you need a pick But it won’t come for free,” Bryant captioned his video. Which showed him placing a $5,000 bet on Kansas City following the 49ers taking a 10-0 lead with 4:23 remaining in the first half.

“That’s what we wanted, you see everybody in here cheering?” Bryant asked in the video as San Fransisco fans celebrated the score. “The 49ers are going to lose this game, they gonna lose.”

Bryant called his shot, as Kansas City scored 13 unanswered points up until a back-and-forth fourth quarter and overtime period that ended in a Chiefs’ win.

Bryant has been active in the sports betting space following his final NFL season in 2020, regularly posting his successful bets on Twitter which recently included a 13-leg college basketball parlay that paid him over $400,000.

His successful wagers off the field have matched his play on the field, ending his 10-year NFL career with 537 receptions for 7,506 yards and 75 touchdowns. Earning three Pro-Bowl selections and a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2014 after leading the NFL with 16 receiving touchdowns.

To the surprise of many, the San Francisco 49ers have opened up the offseason following their Super Bowl loss as the favorites to win Super Bowl LIX next year. With the 49ers sitting at +450 odds with Kansas City right behind them +750 following their second straight Super Bowl win and their third in the last five seasons.

Potentially presenting yet another plus-money bet for Bryant to place on Kansas City ahead of the 2024 season.
