Ohio State star Garrett Wilson joined a former teammate in visiting the New York Jets on Monday – day one of top-30 draft prospect meetings, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Jets hosted Wilson and fellow wide receiver Chris Olave in an effort to narrow down who they could take later this month in the first round of the NFL Draft.

The New York Jets have two first-round picks — the 4th and 10th overall selections — and are clearly heavily considering adding a former Buckeyes wideout. The question is, which one?

While the Jets will likely wait until the 10th pick to select a receiver if they do at all, they have additional moves available to them if they are looking to trade. Several mock drafts have the Jets potentially trading back into the first round for a third pick, which could be used on Wilson or Olave.

The Buckeyes duo finished second and third on the team in receiving yards behind sophomore Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Wilson finished the year with 70 catches for 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns while Olave posted 65 catches, 936 yards and 13 scores.

In NFL draft expert Mel Kiper’s mock draft 3.0, Wilson is the second receiver off of the board at No. 8 to the Atlanta Falcons. Meanwhile, Chris Olave goes to the Philadelphia Eagles with their second consecutive pick at No. 16.

Olave and Wilson competing for NFL attention

The NFL combine provided a chance for Wilson to possibly jump over Olave as the better NFL prospect, as most considered Olave the speedier wideout coming out of Ohio State. But when Wilson ran a faster 40-yard dash than Olave did at the combine, it solidified Wilson’s status as the top wide receiver in this draft class for ESPN’s Todd McShay.

“I’m so impressed with Wilson on tape, from his body control, his ability to stop on a dime, adjust, contort his body, make contested catches and then after the catch,” McShay said. “Now what really stood out to me is Chris Olave, his teammate, was supposed to be the burner, the track star.

“And we thought Garrett Wilson was going to run in the 4.4s. He ran a 4.38. Olave ran a 4.39. So to me, that kind of solidifies that he’s the best, the most NFL-ready wide receiver in this class. I love Drake London (out of USC), he’s right there behind him. But Wilson, to me, is kind of locked in that spot as the number one receiver.”
