After recently opting to join the LIV Golf Tour with John Rahm’s team, former University of Tennessee golf star Caleb Surratt is already earning the big bucks for him and his squad.

Surratt finished his first LIV event on a tear a few weekends ago at El Camaleón Golf Course in Mayakoba, Mexico, just a bit south of Cancún. He birdied five straight holes to round out a 13th place finish in his very first pro golf event since leaving the Volunteer program in the prior weeks. According to golf reporter Brentley Romine, such a strong finish in the standings was quite the boost for his team.

“In his pro debut at LIV Mayakoba, Caleb Surratt birdies his last 5 holes to secure T-13 finish, $350,000 check,” reported Romine. Not bad for a kid who was only making money off of NIL deals just last month.

But in addition to his own personal check, Surratt helped his team win the whole dang event, which is worth even more cash, says Romine.

“Also helped Legion XIII to team title, which comes with another $3 million split among four team members. Add in his signing bonus, and it’s been a lucrative week.”

Surratt’s good fortune continued this past weekend as the LIV Tour joined the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, Nevada, for another tournament. This time around, Surratt actually improved his standing, finishing with a -6 score to come in 12th place, and he was just six strokes behind tourney champ and longtime star Dustin Johnson.

However, prior to his strong performance in Sin City, the young Surratt was nearly out of a hotel room thanks to being just 19 years old and under the 21-and-up policy for renting rooms at the Vegas hotel his team stayed at.

One of his teammates, Tyrrell Hatton, said that he had to go sign off on Surratt’s room reservation just so the kid could actually book a room.

“Checking in yesterday, I kind of kept looking over to Caleb, and he was looking over at me quite nervous, so once I finished checking in, I sort of wandered over to make sure that he was okay,” Hatton shared, per Sports Illustrtated.

“As I got there, the lady checking him in said that he needed someone over 21 to be on the reservation to allow him to stay in the room. I had to hand over my driver’s license to make sure he had a bed for the night.”

It’s a good thing he was able to get a room and enjoy a good night’s sleep — since he wasn’t even of legal age to book a hotel room, much less partake in the gambling, partying and other extra-curricular fun that Las Vegas has to offer. Perhaps that’s why the 19-year-old fared so well over the weekend against a slew of guys who certainly are age-eligible for all the various Vegas hijinks.
