A fourth woman has publicly accused Trevor Bauer, a former Major League Baseball pitcher, of sexual assault — including choking her unconscious — which allegedly took place in late 2020 in Arizona. A lawsuit filed in Arizona by the woman and amended on Tuesday also alleges that Bauer raped her and got her pregnant.

It also alleges he held a steak knife to her throat. The woman is suing for $3.7 million in damages and an “apology to any women the defendant has sexually humiliated and abused against their consent.”

Bauer has filed a countersuit, claiming he is being extorted. In court filings, his lawyers argued he had a single, consensual sexual encounter with the woman where a condom broke. Per the filings, the woman then stated she was pregnant and demanded money from Bauer. That demand was denied, but Bauer offered to pay for medical costs and legally-required child support, according to his court filings.

His legal filings also questioned if the pregnancy was fabricated.

“Based on (the woman’s) demand letter and failure to provide any medical records to substantiate her pregnancy or termination thereof, Mr. Bauer now believes that (the woman) fabricated her pregnancy to try to extort him for money,” part of a brief reads.

In the amendments to the complaint on Tuesday, the woman clarified that she had opted not to terminate the pregnancy, but ended up having a miscarriage.

The behavior alleged in the legal filings in Arizona is similar to that alleged by a woman in San Diego who originally accused Bauer of assault.

Her allegations, along with similar claims from two other women in Ohio, led to an investigation by MLB and various authorities into Bauer in the summer of 2021. He was never criminally charged in connection to any of the accusations.

MLB, though, suspended Bauer a record 324 games, which was then reduced to 194 games after arbitration, leading to his immediate reinstatement as the requisite games had passed.

After his reinstatement on Dec. 22, 2022, Bauer didn’t last long with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was designated for assignment on Jan. 6, 2023, and officially released less than a week later, on Jan. 12. He now plays in Japan.

Bauer has maintained his innocence amid the original set of accusations and in his latest court case, claiming that the allegations that he choked and sexually assaulted the woman in Arizona are false.
