Saquon Barkley was able to participate in individual drills this past week as the Giants prepped for their game against the Seahawks. But it’s still unclear whether he’ll be able to play.

Giants coach Brian Daboll said they’ll wait until game time, Monday, before deciding on whether Barkley should play. Daboll provided the update Saturday. So there’s still two days of healing for Barkley, who suffered a high ankle sprain Sept. 17, as he led the Giants to a huge comeback against the Cardinals.

Officially, the Giants listed Barkley as “doubtful.” The injury report indictated he practiced for three days, but listed him as “limited” in each of the sessions.

“Well, we’ll see how he looks,” Daboll told reporters before Saturday’s practice. “He’s gotten progressively better. Then it’s just a talk with Saquon, where he’s at, a talk with the training staff. I think everybody has to be on the same page. Again, I never want to put a guy out there that is not ready to go. But he has gotten better. I think there is a chance, but we’ll see where it’s at.”

Daboll also said that offensive tackle Andrew Thomas is out for the Seahawks. He reaggravated a hamstring injury in practice this week and will miss his third straight game.

Barkley told reporters he wants to play. Doctors initially thought he’d miss three games with the sprain.

“It’s tough,” Saquon Barkley said. “It’s one of those things I think I’m doing way better than a lot of people would expect, especially talking to doctors. I feel like I’m further along. But it’s frustrating because I’m obviously healing fast, but you want it to be faster. Obviously you want to heal fast and it’s tough balancing that. Taking it day by day, just fighting every single day coming in to rehab and trying to get myself back to a place where I can come in and compete at a high level for my team.”

Saquon Barkey sprained his ankle on his 67th snap against the Cardinals. By then, he’d already scored a pair of touchdowns as the Giants pounded the Cards in a 21-point comeback. Since the tailback wasn’t able to join his teammates in a full practice, it’s unlikely he’ll play Monday. But then again, the Giants seem to think it’s worth waiting until game time to make that decision.

“I think I’m doing way better than what a lot of people would expect,” Saquon Barkley said. “Especially talking to doctors, I’m further along. But it’s frustrating because I’m healing fast, but you want it to be faster. Every day it’s getting better and better and trending up.”
