Grant Williams is on his way out of Boston. The Celtics are sending Williams to the Dallas Mavericks as part of a sign-and-trade that includes three teams, according to multiple reports.

Williams is heading to the Mavericks and signing a four-year, $53 million deal afterward, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported. As part of the trade, Dallas is trading Reggie Bullock and an unprotected pick swap to the San Antonio Spurs, according to The Athletic and Stadium’s Shams Charania, plus two second-round picks. The Celtics will also receive second-round picks in 2024, 2025 and 2028.

Boston took Williams in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft out of Tennessee, where he was a two-time SEC Player of the Year by the coaches and a consensus All-American in 2019. This past season, Williams averaged 8.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game with a 45.4% shooting percentage to help the Celtics to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Bullock has been a bit of an NBA journeyman after becoming a first-round pick in 2013. The Los Angeles Clippers drafted him, but he also played for five teams — the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and the Mavericks. This past season, he averaged 7.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 40.9% from the field.

This is the second time the Celtics have been involved in a three-team trade this offseason. The first landed them Kristaps Porzingis from the Washington Wizards. However, one of Boston’s top defenders left as a result of that deal.

The Wizards sent Porzingis to the Celtics in a deal that also included the Memphis Grizzlies, who will send Tyus Jones to Washington as a result, Wojnarowski reported. Smart will head to Memphis as part of the agreement, according to Wojnarowski.

The Grizzlies are also sending the No. 25 overall pick in Thursday’s draft to the Celtics, Wojnarowski said, in addition to a 2024 first-round pick via the Golden State Warriors. Washington will also receive the No. 35 overall pick on Thursday from Boston, as well as Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala.

Porzingis opted in to his $36 million contract to make it happen, and he seems willing to do so as he makes his way to Boston. The New York Knicks drafted him No. 4 overall in the 2015 NBA Draft. He also played for the Mavericks before arriving in Washington ahead of the 2021-22 season.
