After getting down to the NFL’s 53-man limit on Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers are signing veteran safety Rudy Ford, according to Mike Garafolo.

The former Auburn Tigers defensive back lost his job with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday after receiving his release but is now back on his feet with a new squad.

A sixth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Ford spent his first two seasons in the league with the Arizona Cardinals. He then joined the Philadelphia Eagles for two seasons before playing for the Jaguars in 2021.

Over the course of five seasons and 56 games played, Ford has totaled 88 tackles with 67 solo, a half sack and one interception. His first career interception came in November in the team’s 9-6 win over Buffalo.

Packers announce moves to get roster down to 53-man limit

On Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers announced their final roster moves to reach the 53-man roster limit. The Packers removed a total of 26 players to cut down to their regular season roster number. Green Bay fans should expect plenty of more moves in the weeks ahead. With Tuesday being the deadline for the entire league, there will be plenty of free agents to scout and possibly bring in.

According to the NFL’s waiver wire and the Packers team site, the team waived a total of 20 players. Green Bay also designated six players to the waived/injured list. Check out the full list of waived players:

QB: Danny Etling

A fan favorite from the preseason, quarterback Danny Etling is not expected to go anywhere despite his waiver. Team officials plan on bringing the former LSU QB back as a member of the practice squad for 2022.
