The Green Bay Packers suffered their third straight loss of the season on Sunday falling to the Denver Broncos 19-17 on the road. The Packers now drop to 2-4 on the season in their first year with quarterback Jordan Love under center, and there’s no question that the former first-round draft selection could be playing better.

Green Bay was held scoreless to the Broncos for the entire first half, which is especially disappointing considering Denver’s defense is the worst in terms of yards and points allowed per game this season in the entire NFL.

A second-half surge was not enough for the Packers to pull out the win, and after the game, Love spoke about their offensive struggles.

“I think there are critical errors in these situations,” Love said. “It’s on everybody. Not starting the game fast. Not putting up points quickly comes back to bite us in the end. We’re trying to do everything we can to fight and claw, and I think everyone does that. The effort is always there. Everybody’s fighting. Everybody’s straining. But, like I said, not putting up points in the first half is coming back to bite us.”

10 third quarter points and a touchdown catch from Jayden Reed with 8:31 remaining in the game gave Green Bay their first lead of the contest, but a late field goal from Wil Lutz gave the Broncos a two-point lead with under four minutes remaining.

After the two-minute warning, a holding penalty followed by an incompletion led to a 3rd & 20 for the Packers where Love would throw an interception that would end the ballgame and hand Denver their first home win of the season.

“Last play, we dialed up a play that is made for that coverage, trying to get a shot over the top to Samori [Toure], and the back-side safety made a good play, reading out of it and staying over the top on him,” Love explained. “So I tried to put a ball where you can make it on the left side of the safety, and the back-side safety was able to make a play on that.”

The interception marked Love’s seventh of the season, having at least one in his last four games for Green Bay.

Love has completed just 57.5% of his passes this season for 1,263 and 10 touchdowns, and he hasn’t been getting much help from the run game either with the Packers averaging just 90.8 yards per game on the ground.

Hopefully, Love and the offense can turn things around versus a divisional opponent in their next matchup, as they face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday who are fresh off of a big Monday Night Football win over the San Francisco 49ers.
