The Green Bay Packers are sending star defensive back Rasul Douglas to the Buffalo Bills. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news on Tuesday, just ahead of the trade deadline.

Douglas is in his seventh season in the NFL. This was his third year with the Packers, having previous stops with the Philadelphia Eagles (2017-19) and Carolina Panthers (2020).

So far this season, Douglas has accounted for 32 tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception in seven games with Green Bay. Buffalo sent a third-round selection to land the defensive back, as well as a fifth-round pick.

Douglas would have the chance to become an immediate impact player for Buffalo after the trade. He was a regular starter over the last two-and-a-half seasons in Green Bay. The defensive back appeared in 36 contests, starting in 28.

The Packers have dropped each of their last four games, falling to 2-5 on the season. Buffalo has been on a bit of an up-and-down trend the past few games, sitting at 5-3 on the year.

For his career, Douglas has played in 96 games and made 57 starts. He has accounted for 354 tackles, including 292 solo stops. Douglas has also tallied 66 passes defended and two interceptions.

Packers reach monster deal with Rashan Gary

In other Packers news this week, the team inked linebacker Rashan Gary to a four-year deal worth $107 million on Monday after Week 8, the defender announced himself on X. After the team exercised his fifth-year option for 2023, Gary negotiated a huge new contract that keeps him with the team through the 2027 season.

The former first-round draft pick out of Michigan leads the Packers with 4.5 sacks this season, as well as five tackles for loss through seven games.

“Thanks to everyone in the Green Bay Packers organization, my family, business team, NFL, friends, fans and supporters for taking this ride with me,” Gary wrote to announce his new deal.

Last season, Gary tore his ACL after 32 tackles, seven tackles for loss, six sacks, and 12 quarterback hits on the season. He also added one pass defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery before the injury derailed his season.

In 2021, he had the best season of his NFL career, where he put up 47 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks and 28 quarterback hits. He also had two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 16 regular season games.
