The Green Bay Packers initially ruled linebacker Quay Walker and DB Darnell Savage as questionable to return before halftime with a knee injury, but have now ruled them out of Monday Night Football vs. the Las Vegas Raiders.

Walker was the Packers’ leading tackler (4) and had one tackle for loss before being taken out of the game with a knee injury, while Savage is nursing a calf injury that came from late in the first half.

Isaiah McDuffie and Eric Wilson will serve as the main inside linebackers for the rest of the game, while Jonathan Owens will replace Savage.

Savage came up limping after a play late in the second half and took himself out. He was struggling to put any weight on his leg before limping to the sidelines.

Walker has already had issues with injury this season, clearing concussion protocol after being taken out of the season-opener against the Chicago Bears immediately following the first interception return for a touchdown of his career. Days after clearing protocol, he had the best performance of his young career with 17 total tackles and a pass breakup in a 25-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

More on Green Bay’s injuries

While the Packers are certainly missing Walker and Savage, two starters, from its lineup, there was a ton of concern that star defensive back Jaire Alexander and linebacker De’Vondre Campbell would not be able to suit up.

Alexander was able to suit up, but was seen stretching out his back which kept him as a limited participant all week. Campbell’s ankle kept him out the entire week.

Ironically, the two players whose injuries they were most worried about ended up having nothing to do with Monday Night Football. Instead, two players at the same position go down with injuries and are ruled out.

The Packers are now headed to their bye week in Week 6. That means Campbell, Walker and Savage have more than enough time to get healthy and hopefully find themselves back on the field. Of course, the latter two will be undergoing MRIs to learn the full extent of their statuses.

After the bye week, Green Bay is hitting the road to face an ailing Denver Broncos team that can’t seem to click on either side of the ball this season. Kickoff on Oct. 22 is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET live on CBS.
