The next man up mantra rings true on all levels of football, and ahead of Monday Night Football the Green Bay Packers have called upon their next man.

Following star running back Aaron Jones being downgraded to inactive due to a lingering hamstring injury ahead of Green Bay’s Monday night matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Packers have signed running back Patrick Taylor to their active roster.

Taylor was upgraded from the Packers’ practice squad to their 53-man roster on Monday and has been with the team since being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

He spent his entire rookie season between Green Bay’s practice squad, reserve/non-football injury, and active/non-football injury list until seeing his first regular-season action in 2021. Taylor appeared in nine games for the Packers in 2021, recording 89 yards on 23 carries and scoring his first career touchdown against the Detroit Lions in Week 18.

In his career, Taylor has rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown on 42 carries along with six receptions for 43 yards, also contributing on special teams with two tackles.

The former Memphis standout joins AJ Dillon and Emanuel Wilson as the Packers’ active running backs for Monday night, and it will definitely be interesting to see what impact he’ll be able to make.

Report: Packers RB Aaron Jones inactive for Monday Night Football vs Raiders

The Green Bay Packers will be without running back Aaron Jones yet again for their Monday Night Football matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders as the star running back has been ruled out, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

This will be Jones’ second scratch for the Packers this season after suffering a hamstring injury, only making appearances in Week 1 versus the Chicago Bears and in the team’s last matchup with the Detroit Lions.

Jones injured his hamstring at the end of a touchdown run in the second half versus the Bears, which caused him to miss games versus the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints. He returned from his injury against the Lions with expectations to ramp up into full health, appearing in 20 snaps for the Packers where he received five carries and was targeted twice in the pass game for 14 total yards.

But after being a limited participant in practice all week for Green Bay and being unable to go on Monday night, it’s clear that Jones is still battling through his injury struggles this season.
