The Green Bay Packers have signed linebacker Kobe Jones and offensive tackle Rasheed Walker. Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced both transactions Monday afternoon.

Walker is Green Bay’s seventh round draft pick out of Penn State, where he took over at left tackle for the Nittany Lions in 2020, receiving All-Big Ten Conference honors in his final two seasons.

Jones, a former Mississippi State Bulldog, played in 50 games over 2017 to 2020 with the Bulldogs where he recorded 102 tackles (42 solo), 22 tackles for a loss, 7.0 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He’ll be entering his second season in the league after being signed an as undrafted free agent to the Atlanta Falcons before being released, following that up with short stints with the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans practice squads.

Former Packers scout lands promotion with new NFL team

Former Green Bay Packers scout Charles Walls, who spent the past two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, has been hired as the director of player personnel by the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN’s Kimberley Martin. He is part of a big shift in the front office after several offseason departures.

The role he now fills was previously held by two people, Brandon Brown and Ian Cunningham. Brown left the organization for a role under new New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen and Cunningham accepted a position under new Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles.

Charles Walls first stint in the NFL, which came as a Packers intern in 2013, came in the scouting department. Over several years he worked his way up the ladder before becoming the Southwest regional scout in Green Bay in 2017.

During his time with the Packers, he scouted players like Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones, tight end Jace Sternberger and defensive end Kingsley Keke, who all played a significant role on the roster.
