Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon was involved in an incident with Green Bay police on Saturday night. A police officer shoved Dillon during a soccer match between F.C. Bayern and Manchester City at Lambeau Field. The NFL has since reported that the police department is now looking into the incident.

Dillon says there was evidently a miscommunication between he and the officer which led to the issue. Dillon says security gave him permission to be down on the field to perform a ‘Lambeau Leap’ for the crowd. The officer obviously didn’t know based on his reaction show in this video.

“Two security told me and helped me come down to the field during the 30 minute rain delay, so I could do a Lambeau leap and hype up the crowd,” said Dillion on Twitter following the incident. “I’m assuming he missed them telling me to come down. Just miscommunication between parties, the Green Bay police are great people and I’m glad we have them down there for our games to keep us safe. Standing there in the pouring rain with all those people it’s hard to know what’s going on with just one. All good.”

Mark Murphy, president of the Green Bay Packers, said per The Athletic that the incident was “obviously very unfortunate.” Green Bay PD Chief Chris Davis said the department is investigating the issue internally. He went on to say they appreciate Dillon’s cooperation in a statement.

“We are aware of the video showing an interaction between a GBPD Officer and AJ Dillon at the soccer match at Lambeau Field. (We) appreciate Mr Dillon’s perspective and supportive comments,” said Davis. “Our Professional Standards Division is reviewing this incident.”

Once bystanders posted the video evidence, the internet perceived it very negatively. Both Dillon and the department, though, have acknowledged it was nothing more than a miscommunication at this time.
