Hailie Deegan preparing for Tulsa Shootout Micro Sprint race
While it is the offseason for NASCAR, Hailie Deegan is still getting some laps in as she prepares for the Tulsa Shootout Micro Sprint race. The Oklahoma race is one of the biggest of the year for micros and Deegan has been making preparations for the big day.
Hailie Deegan and fiance Chase Cabre went out to Millbridge Speedway and got some laps in. As they get their cars ready for Tulsa, they need to make laps. Deegan is getting comfortable racing in these cars again, she hasn’t been in a Micro Sprint in some time.
We don’t get to see it much in the NASCAR season, but if you follow Deegan on YouTube, you know she and Chase work hand-in-hand. They help one another, especially in sprint cars.
Deegan posted a vlog to her YouTube channel detailing the practice session at Millbridge.
Any time you get to see behind-the-scenes stuff like this, it’s great. Hailie Deegan, coming off a Most Popular Driver award for the third year in a row in the Truck Series, has a big year ahead of her in 2024.
Deegan is going to move on from the Truck Series and move on up to the Xfinity Series.
As for the sprint car, Deegan felt she had a good session.
“I thought it went pretty good, I thought we made a few really good changes to my car. … We didn’t have any issues, so that’s great. Don’t have to fix anything before Tulsa, don’t have to replace anything. So, good day on that end and we will get everything cleaned up, ready for Tulsa.”
Hailie Deegan moving to the Xfinity Series
Hailie Deegan will no longer be with ThorSport in the Craftsman Truck Series. She’s moving on to AM Racing in the Xfinity Series. She is going to drive the No. 15 car. Deegan will once again have a shot at a Most Popular Driver award in her new series.
The real question is, can she compete? No one is going to say she was great in the Truck Series. She showed flashes. However, the evidence shows that maybe she doesn’t have the comfort level in the trucks to succeed.
For some drivers, the Truck Series doesn’t work out. For others, it is the Xfinity Series. One thing is for sure – this will be the answer to the questions, once and for all. In her limited Xfinity Series experience, Deegan has shown the most promise since she got into NASCAR.
Hailie Deegan is a racer, she loves motorsports. Now, she’s going to try and make a case for herself in the Xfinity Series. She has sponsorship and a new team dedicated to succeeding. Now we just have to wait and see if she’s able to execute in 2024.
