Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Houston Texans will be signing two offensive linemen, both of which played their college football in the SEC. Justin Britt and A.J. Cann will both be heading down to Houston to play for new head coach Lovie Smith.

Britt, a former second-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft out of Missouri, signed for the Texans last season after not playing in 2020. He appeared in and start 11 games for them, playing 100% of the offensive snaps throughout that stretch. Additionally, Britt only had three penalties, holding twice and getting a head start just once with a false start.

Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network soon came out with the details of Britt’s contract. Houston will be paying him $9 million over two years with a “max value” of $10.5 million.

As for Cann, he will be making his way over from another AFC South team in the Jacksonville Jaguars. Drafted by the franchise in the 2015 NFL draft third round out of South Carolina, Cann was a consistent starter before suffering a season-ending surgery this past October. The offensive lineman has been slotted at right guard for most of his career and is projected to do the same for the Texans.

According to Tom Pelissero, Cann will be signing a two-year deal with Houston. He will make $10.5 million over the course of the contract with $4.5M fully guaranteed.

Houston Texans deny Deshaun Watson suitor meeting request

Deshaun Watson was cleared of being brought on criminal charges on Friday, instantly making him the hottest quarterback name available on the trade market. Plenty of teams are attempting to acquire Watson by setting up meetings and convincing him to waive his no-trade clause.

One team attempting to get involved, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, is the Indianapolis Colts. After trading Carson Wentz away to the Washington Commanders, the Colts are attempting to once again find a franchise quarterback and wanted to meet with Watson to discuss the possibility.

However, Houston will not let the two sides meet, with Schefter saying the organization is not comfortable trading Watson inside of their division. A few other teams will get to meet with Watson but Indianapolis will not be one of them.

“Houston has declined Indianapolis’ attempt to speak with Deshaun Watson, per source,” Schefter said via Twitter. “Houston comfortable trading Watson – just not in the AFC South.”
