Indiana Pacers players welcome Caitlin Clark to Indianapolis

The Indiana Fever selected Caitlin Clark at No. 1 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and the Indiana Pacers are ready to see her in action. When the Fever made the pick, several Pacers players went to social media to send messages to Clark.

“What’s up, Caitlin? Welcome to Indy,” Tyrese Haliburton said in the video. “Welcome to the squad. So excited to have you here. So excited to watch you and your growth and see you get better. I’m just excited to have you in Indy alongside.”

“Caitlin, what’s going on?” Myles Turner asked. “Excited to have you on board. “Looking forward to a hell of a season.”

“Caitlin, what it do?” Jarace Walker said. “Congratulations. Number one pick. I already know what’s poppin’. Welcome to the city. Let’s get it.”

Caitlin Clark is ready to be an impact WNBA Player

Clark joins the Fever after having a legendary career at Iowa. She was a three-time unanimous All-American, won the Naismith College Player of the Year twice and was named AP Player of the Year twice. Clark also led the Hawkeyes to two consecutive national championship appearances.

Once drafted by the Fever, Clark shared her excitement about being in the WNBA. “I got a little anxious there before the pick but I think more than anything, just grateful and lucky to have my family here, my friends over there, coaches up here, so I think just enjoying the moment,” Clark said on the ESPN broadcast. “Like you said, like I’ve dreamed of this moment since I was in second grade and it’s taken a lot of hard work, a lot of ups and downs but more than anything, just trying to soak it in.”

Clark also talked about her role with the Fever. “Yeah, I think the biggest thing is like they have such a good roster and that’s what I’m excited about,” Clark said. “Like you said like there are a winning franchise. You know, I’m excited to get there. I’m excited to get to Indianapolis. I know there’s a lot of people … supporting the picks that we’re gonna make so you know, (hopefully they’ll be) supporting all summer long and you got to buy your tickets.”

The Pacers are getting ready for the NBA playoffs as they finished the season as the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference. It will be the first time since the 2019-2020 season the Pacers will play in the postseason.
