Good news for IndyCar fans, the 2024 Indy 500 is selling tickets at a faster clip than the 2023 edition of the race, at least to this point. We are five months out from the big day when NASCAR star Kyle Larson will line up against IndyCar’s best – so far, fans are buying tickets up quickly.

Good news for the Indy 500 is good news for all racing in America. As motorsports ride a new wave of popularity, hoping it gets bigger and bigger before it crests, things like this are good news. Now, it isn’t anything super wild, but it is another sign that enthusiasm for racing is there and increasing.

According to Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal, Indianapolis Motor Speedway has sold 10,000 tickets more at this point in the year for the 2024 Indy 500 compared to this time last year for the 2023 edition.

If no more tickets were held tomorrow, with no more ticket sales, IMS would “already have 225,000 people in attendance.”

Kyle Larson being in the race might have something to do with that. NASCAR fans will be hoping to see him make his first start in IndyCar. Larson is regarded as one of the most talented and multi-faceted drivers in America. Many are looking forward to a competitive effort.

Of course, Larson will have to race against a talented field. There is a lot of diversity and skill in this IndyCar roster.

Kyle Larson and the 2024 Indy 500

Racing with a collaborative effort between Arrow McLaren and Hendrick Motorsports, Kyle Larson has his eyes set on the 2024 Indy 500. Larson, a Cup champion and sprint car icon, has a real shot at winning the race. It won’t be easy, but he has the equipment and the talent to do it.

That won’t be the only race he competes in that day. Larson is going to go from Indianapolis to Charlotte to compete in the Coca-Cola 600, too. Hopefully, by the end of the day, Larson will have raced 1100 miles and picked up a pair of top-10 finishes in the process.

In Larson’s Double Duty effort – he will be compared to Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch. Both drivers tried the double themselves, Stewart twice. Smoke has the best cumulative finish, P6 in the 500 and P3 in the 600. If Larson outperforms that effort, it will be historic.

The 2024 Indy 500 is going to be one to watch. If you love racing, this is going to be an event in itself with Larson performing the double.
