The Jacksonville Jaguars are making moves during the NFL’s legal tampering period ahead of free-agency officially opening up on Wednesday, with NFL insider Ian Rapoport reporting Monday that the team plans on signing safety Darnell Savage and wide receiver Gabriel Davis to three-year deals.

According to Rapoport, Davis’ contract will be worthy $39 million with a chance to reach $50 million based on incentives following four seasons with the Buffalo Bills.

Similarly savage will join the Jags following five seasons with the Green Bay Packers, but the details of his contract are still unknown.

Davis has been a crucial part of the Buffalo Bills passing attack the last four years after Buffalo selected him with the No. 128 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Central Florida. Making 62 regular season game appearances and 45 starts where he’s caught 161 passes for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns. Catching seven touchdown passes in three of his four seasons and starting in all 30 of his last 30 regular season games.

He’s also been a major impact player in the playoffs for Buffalo, appearing in seven postseason games with 22 receptions for 474 yards and five touchdowns. Highlighted by his career-high 201 yards on eight catches and an NFL postseason single game record four receiving touchdowns in the iconic 42–36 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the 2021-2022 playoffs.

While Davis will help out Jacksonville’s offense, Savage has the potential to be a game changing player for the Jaguars’ defense. Selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the No. 21 overall pick from Maryland. Between 2019 and 2022, Savage was just one of eight NFL safeties who posted 55-plus tackles, five-plus passes defensed, and an interception each season.

Savage has played in 72 career games for the Packers with 69 starts, fresh off of playing out his fifth-year option with the franchise recording 51 tackles in 2023 and a memorable 64-yard interception return for a touchdown during a wild card win over the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs.

All in all Savage was a staple in the Packers secondary, ending his five seasons in Green Bay with 225 total tackles, 32 passes defensed, nine interceptions, and two forced fumbles with two fumble recoveries. As he’ll look to help out the Jaguars secondary that gave up 239.8 yards through the air per game last season which ranked 26th across the NFL.
