After the Jacksonville Jaguars announced that star tackle Cam Robinson is questionable to return to the game on Sunday against the Houston Texans, the team then downgraded him to out. The Jaguars are battling to retain the top spot in the AFC South but they will have to continue without their former second-round pick.

Robinson appeared to suffer a knee injury amid the one-score game and after evaluation on the sideline, reporters noted that he was in tears on the bench.

One year ago, Robinson suffered a right meniscus injury in the overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys, ending his 2022 season early. Prior to that injury, he missed all but two games of the 2018 season with a torn ACL in his left knee.

Ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Jaguars agreed to a new deal for the former Alabama standout. The Jags put a franchise tag on Robinson to keep him out of the free agency market in March, but the two parties managed to agree on a contract extension instead.

Robinson, who earned $13.75 million in 2021, was due $16.66 million with the franchise tag in 2022. However, they shelled out even more to keep the former Crimson Tide star with the team long-term. This was before the tackle received a four-game suspension due to a violation of the league’s rules on PEDs this offseason.

Jacksonville locked Robinson in through 2024 with a deal worth $54 million. The $18 million per year figure puts him in the top six for highest-paid left tackles last season. He was the Jags’ second-round pick at No. 34 overall in 2017 following a stellar career at Alabama

uring his time in Tuscaloosa, Robinson started every game at left tackle (43 games). He racked up numerous accolades during his time there. Robinson became one of the team’s three unanimous All-American selections in 2016.

He also won the Outland Trophy in 2016, his junior season with the Crimson Tide. The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder also won the SEC Jacobs Blocking Trophy, the second won that Alabama brought home in two years. He racked up a team-high 37 knockdown blocks in 15 games during his junior campaign.

As a freshman for Alabama, he earned freshman All-American honors after finishing with 32 knockdown blocks. He also only allowed three sacks during 861 snaps.
