There’s plenty of excitement around Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit as one of their two first round picks in this year’s draft. That has only grown as the Lions have shared more and more content with him during their OTAs.

The latest was a clip that featured Gibbs catching a check down pass from QB Jared Goff. At that point, it was off the races as, although part of it was in slow motion, Gibbs took off and flashed at least a little of that 4.36 speed that he showed off in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.

Gibbs is coming off his lone season at Alabama after a pair of college campaigns at Georgia Tech.

In total, he showed out as a dual-threat weapon with nearly 3,350 yards from scrimmage and 23 touchdowns overall off of 383 carries and 104 receptions. Still, his year in Tuscaloosa elevated him to another level as he posted or tied career highs in carries (151), rushing yards (926), rushing touchdowns (seven), catches (44), reception yards (444), and reception touchdowns (three) with the Crimson Tide.

All of that led him to be a first-round pick during the 2023 NFL Draft. While some questioned it in the moment, it seems like those around the Detroit Lions are incredibly high on him after they selected him No. 12 overall.

Gibbs is going to get his shot in the Lions’ backfield with the moves that the franchise has made this offseason. It’s obvious why, too, based on clips like this that show him off as a rookie that could legitimately produce for them next season.

Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings ‘parting ways’ after six seasons

Dalvin Cook‘s time with the Minnesota Vikings is officially coming to an end after months of speculation.

The former Florida State Seminoles star has only known one NFL franchise since coming into the league, but that’s all about to change. On Thursday, the Vikings and their four-time Pro Bowl running back decided to part ways.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero revealed the news on Twitter, and Cook will now look to begin the next chapter in his career.

Moreover, ESPN’s Adam Schefter added that the Vikings will try one last time on Thursday to trade Cook to one of his many suitors, before they likely release him for nothing but cap space.

“Vikings are expected to try to trade four-time Pro-Bowl RB Dalvin Cook one more time today and if they are unable to, they would plan to process his official release Friday, per source,” tweeted Schefter.
