In a surprise turn of events, shortly after signing with the New England Patriots, former Baylor Bears and Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Jalen Hurd is on his way out. According to NFL Insider Aaron Wilson, the Patriots have announced that they have placed Hurd on the reserve/retired list.

The former Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year recipient back in 2018 signed with New England less than a week ago, on July 25. He has been attempting to carve out a spot on an NFL roster since being drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the No. 67 pick.

The reason for the move is unclear. But it is worth noting that Hurd has had an unfortunate history of injuries since entering the league in 2019. Whether or not this has anything to do with him being placed on the reserve/retired list is still unknown at this point. Still, at 27 years of age, it appears as if his entire career has come to an end.
